The last few shows (particularly 245 and 246) were, in my mind, awfully rigid in their execution.
Obviously there was a reason for this, there has been a deluge of gaming news, and when I listen back on the episodes, they sound a bit too much like a bullet list of things to talk about with limited time, with only the occasional breakout of "freeform discussion" (see the Wizardry/JRPG "press A to victory" discussion in 246).
EVERY podcast on the intertubes rehash the weekly news, and this bothers me greatly. We're not doing anything different, and I'd love to change that.
Ribo has mentioned a few cool ideas for themed shows, and I'm all for it. I'd also like to change the "regular show formula".
Any ideas? They don't have to be good, they just have to be.
Some things that have crossed my mind :
A show dedicated to an old game or series (that week everyone would play a Castlevania, or everyone plays Dragon Warrior IV)
A show dedicated to a certain genre (the best in dungeon crawling, FPS 101, JRPGS for Dummies)
Having the occasional "unscripted" show (no notes, or only one person has notes to help drive the random discussion)
